Snickerdoodles

Our favorite holiday cookie. Easy to make. And even easier to eat.

Makes 6 dozen cookies (which is never enough)

Mix
1 cup soft shortening
1-1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs

Sift together, then stir in
2-3/4 cups sifted flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt

Break off bits of dough and roll in hands to form small 1 inch balls of dough. Then roll in mixture of 1/2 cinnamon and 1/2 sugar. Place two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in hot 400º oven 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browed, but still soft!

Do not overcook. Cool on rack.
